A Costal Town Near Msida
Pietà lies on the northern waterfront of the island, between Floriana and Msida.
Moreover, its close proximity to Malta's new capital, Valletta, made it an attractive location to settle. Guardamangia began to develop as a locality overlooking Pieta' in the 1920s. Guardamangia and Pieta were merged into one village as a result of this surge.

Pietà Creek 1856-59
Pietà Creek was still in its inital stages of development.
Around 1910's
The street leading up to Queen Elizabeth II Residence and further up St. Luke's Hospital.
Around 1920's
The junction showing Villa Zammit with its decorative garden wall which today has been replaced with buildings.

Pietà 1930's
During this time, Pietà was more developed with St. Luke's Hospital being built at the top of the hill. Along the creek, the boathouse which is still standing and used as a restaurant.
Pietà 1950's
Pietà Creek which was reclaimed from the sea which was enlarged for better management for traffic and created a garden in the middle.
Pietà Creek 1984
Pietà continued to be developed and since the 1980's, the town has remained slightly similar as it is today.
