Home / Sliema and Balluta
Once a quiet fishing village, Sliema served as a summer resort for the wealthier residents of Valletta. It wasn't until the 19th century that Sliema began to develop into a residential area.
Along the Balluta promenade, the British constructed an elegant array of villas and townhouses along the promenade overlooking the rocky shoreline, as well as many Victorian buildings.
