An Iconic Entertainment Location
of the 20th Century
The Sliema Chalet at Ghar id-Dud became the most popular meeting place in Sliema during the hot summer months. It was inaugurated in May 1926 as an open-air "Chalet" and remained open till 1963.
The Chalet was a symbol of pleasure and freedom of expression.
In addition to live music being performed regularly by the top musical bands of the period, it became a very popular entertainment venue for the public.
